Consultation

I work with professionals, parents and carers and children and young people in a collaborative manner, to explore concerns, find solutions and monitor the effectiveness of those solutions. I use my Psychological expertise, together with your expertise about the child/young person, or organisation, to facilitate positive change.

Consultation meetings usually cover the following areas:

  1. Identifying the main concerns;
  2. Identifying desired outcomes to achieve;
  3. Agreeing on an action plan, including strategies and intervention to achieve the desired outcome.

I support you fully through the above process using a range of psychological theories, tools and skills. Consultation meetings usually last about an hour and a record of the consultation is always produced in the form of a consultation report.

I promote an ‘Assess, Plan, Do, Review’ cycle, as advised through the SEND Code of Practice. As such, I welcome the opportunity for review consultations where we can evaluate whether the identified desired outcomes were achieved and whether further action is required.

Evaluations taken following consultations show that parents, carers, children/young people and professionals feel more empowered following my consultations, and that the consultations result in positive improvements in the situations concerned.
